Queen's Birthday Honour for Dr Steve Hambleton

Success! Your request has been sent and a representative will be in contact soon.

Long-serving former AMA Queensland Foundation director and President Dr Steve Hambleton has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Dr Hambleton was made a Member of the Order (AM) of Australia for significant service to medical governance, to professional associations, and to the community.

A Past President of both AMA and AMA Queensland, Dr Hambleton represented Australia on the international stage at the World Medical Association and also worked on behalf of doctors and patients on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC).

The only regret for him about becoming Dr Steve Hambleton AM is that his parents did not live to see it.

“Mum and Dad died in February and March this year, six weeks apart, and Dad had an OAM,” he says.

“It’s all the other people that you stand on the shoulders of, that’s the bit you don’t hear about.”
