2025 EOFY Tax Appeal
Success! Your request has been sent and a representative will be in contact soon.
This tax time, support Queensland's future doctors.
Studying medicine can be tough, but for some students, surviving financially is the hardest part. The degree can be intensive, and not all future doctors have the financial support they need to keep going.
With your help this financial year, AMA Queensland Foundation can continue our legacy of giving a helping hand to students in financial hardship, through our Medical Student Scholarships Program.
Every student who finishes their medical degree is a future doctor caring for the health of Queenslanders.
Medical scholarships make a difference
The Foundation scholarship can make a huge difference in the life of a medical student. Not only in knowing that bills are getting paid while they give their all to their studies, but in knowing that they have the support of the wider community, to keep striving under difficult circumstances.
In 2025, AMA Queensland Foundation funded three $10,000 scholarships to help medical students in financial hardship realise their dreams of becoming doctors, with a fourth awarded under our Sponsor one Student (SoS) Program.
Together, we’ve supported 39 medical students to keep studying medicine, and to date, helped to launch the careers of 31 doctors who are now caring for communities across Queensland.
$30,000 target
This tax time, let’s come together to give three more medical students experiencing financial hardship a secure future.
Every dollar donated during this 2025 EOFY Tax Appeal will be exclusively directed to the AMA Queensland Foundation Medical Student Scholarship program. Our target is $30,000, and your generosity will see us support three more students in 2026.
Small contributions from all our supporters can quickly add up to a year’s worth of stress-free study for three students facing financial hardship.
Will you join us in giving students the gift of education and Queensland communities the gift of brilliant future doctors?
Please give generously to the AMA Queensland Foundation End of Financial Year Appeal by Monday 30 June, 2025.
2025 Scholarship Recipients
Rheannon Griffin
Currently in her final year of medicine at James Cook University (JCU) in Townsville, Rheannon is a young mother with two young children, who has been juggling a tight budget while studying. Recently, Rheannon’s financial strain increased due to her eldest daughter’s recent medical diagnosis and the associated cost of care. On top of this, her upcoming 10-week rural placement will require her to temporarily relocate.
Alexandra Green
Due to Alexandra’s previous degree, she is ineligible for Austudy, and as a full-time student with extensive placement hours, has limited opportunities to work.
“This scholarship will allow me to focus entirely on my studies and clinical placements and fulfill my goal of becoming a dedicated rural medical practitioner in the North Queensland community,” Alexandra said.
Noah Steel
Until now, Noah has been supported financially through a program for regional medical students. However, this support will be discontinued next month, leaving a considerable shortfall in basic living costs, including rent – a shortfall that is difficult to make up given the demands of full-time medical studies.
“The funds will help ensure that I can maintain stable housing and continue to meet the rigorous requirements of my medical education, ultimately allowing me to complete my studies and contribute to the healthcare needs of regional Queensland," Noah said.
Ann Vincent
“This scholarship will be life changing, allowing me to independently cover essential living costs and enable me to afford my medications, and other medical expenses. It will mean I can fully focus on my studies and placement during my final year, ultimately allowing me to work towards a future where I can provide for my family and give back to my community,”
