Dr Eleanor Chew OAM Chair AMA Queensland FoundationQualifications:  MBBS, FRACGP, MMed (GP), FAICD

Experience: Dr Eleanor Chew is a specialist general practitioner with extensive experience representing the role of primary care in the health services profession. A graduate of the University of Queensland, Dr Chew has over 40 years’ experience as a GP, working in Brisbane, Darwin, Perth and Canberra in a variety of practice settings. An experienced leader with strategic vision and a solid understanding of governance responsibilities, Dr Chew has held leadership roles in AMA Queensland, General Practice Training Queensland, Australian Digital Health Agency and Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.  She stepped down as the Chair of AMA Queensland Board in 2026, having served six years and is a current Director on the AMA Queensland Education and Training Institute Board.  She sits on a range of committees in the private and government sectors. In 2019, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to medicine in the field of general practice.
