AMA Queensland Foundation has supported the work of nine Queensland organisations offering crucial services to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV) through small grants totalling more than $154,000.
Partnering with Brisbane South PHN to launch the initiative, funding is designed to enhance the capacity of organisations to continue their vital work of helping victim-survivors experiencing domestic and family violence.
Foundation Chair Dr Dilip Dhupelia said the grants have been made possible through the generosity of AMA Queensland Foundation donors in 2024.
“As doctors, we see the impacts of domestic and family violence every day, and through the generosity of our donors in both the general community and medical profession, this contribution can hopefully make a real difference for victim-survivors across Queensland.”
Dr Dhupelia said the profile of each organisation was carefully considered through the grant’s application process, with a particular focus on areas of greatest need.
“The chosen organisations primarily work with vulnerable or underserved Queenslanders, with grants helping to close gaps that may be present within existing systems.”
