Success! Your request has been sent and a representative will be in contact soon.

I hope you can all join us for the Foundation’s Charity Gala in November. It will be wonderful evening to get together and celebrate all that the Foundation has been able to achieve this year with your support.

The gala will be at the iconic Customs House and we have some exciting prizes up for grabs in a silent auction and raffle. All proceeds from the evening will go to Beddown to tackle the health impacts of homelessness.

There is no other medical speciality that deals with such a complete range of medical conditions than General Practice does.

In addition, General Practitioners largely work in fully accredited practices, have stringent continuous professional development requirements, are involved in all aspects of quality improvement and now progressing to leading multi-disciplinary teams. Voluntary patient enrolment will allow for holistic care that once was the normal occurrence for patients seeking care from their GP.

Telehealth and e-health initiatives such as my health record, smart referrals, secure messaging, videoconferencing, self-monitoring, etc have meant that GPs need to be adaptive to change. In addition General Practice has had to be, and is, the speciality where funders are continually making so many policy decisions and changes that GPs need to keep abreast of and comply with. All of this creates a very fertile environment for GP Research. The significance of research should not be understated. It allows us to gather information, develop further knowledge and leads us to better practice, improved patient management, self-satisfaction and business improvements in General Practice.

Through the generosity of General Practice Training Queensland, the AMA Queensland Foundation is able to offer the wonderful opportunity for GPs and GP Registrars to get involved in research and to access funds for any exciting projects you may have in mind.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support for the AMA Queensland Foundation.
