The AMA Queensland Foundation attended AMA Queensland’s Women in Medicine Breakfast on 30 October as the charity partner. The event brings together exceptional women in medicine and their male allies to celebrate gender equality and address current topics geared towards women in the medical profession.
The keynote speaker was AMA Queensland Vice President Dr Emilia Dauway, and panellists included Immediate AMA Queensland Past President and Foundation Director Dr Maria Boulton, Professor Jen Williams, Associate Professor Jane Smith and Dr Elizabeth Rushbrook.
Fundraising for mental health and suicide prevention at Women in Medicine 2025
As the Charity Partner, the Foundation held a silent auction and raffle during the event, with all proceeds going towards the 2025 Christmas Appeal supporting mental health and suicide prevention services in Queensland.
Through the incredible generosity of those who attended the breakfast supporting our fundraising through the silent auction, raffle or by purchasing flowers, the Foundation raised $15,329 towards this important cause.
Thank you to Jewels for Generosity for your support of our silent auction. A huge thanks also goes to the AMA Queensland sponsors for their generous raffle prize donations:
- Cutcher & Neale Accounting and Financial Services
- MDA National
- Doctors' Health in Queensland
- Doctors' Health Fund
- QUT (Queensland University of Technology)
- Queensland Medical Women's Society
- Westpac
- Queensland Xray
- Evoca Women's Health
- SAGED
We thank all who attended the breakfast, and helped the Foundation to not only raise vital funds but hopefully to further break down stigma around mental ill-health and suicide that can often be a barrier to seeking life-saving help.

Will your donation get us to the next milestone?
We are proud to say that we have currently raised $21,830 under the Foundation’s virtual giving tree!
The Foundation have set a target of $50,000 and with your help, we can tie that bow around the next gift of life-saving support for Queenslanders experiencing mental ill-health or at increased risk of suicide.
