Support driven by Queensland doctors
The mental health and suicide prevention community grants were made possible thanks to the generosity of AMA Queensland Foundation donors. The mental health and suicide prevention campaign was borne from a survey of Queensland doctors who identified this as a priority area of pressing concern for the Queensland community.
Almost one in two Australians will have experienced a mental health condition in their lifetime, and on average, more than two Queenslanders per day take their own lives. Doctors surveyed anonymously commented on the “high demand” for supports creating a “critical issue in our communities.”
A total of $150,000 in funding has been provided to support these grants.
